The Kitchen Cupboard Cakebook was published on May 5, 1953, as one of the JCC Women’s Association's many fundraisers. Women in the community submitted recipes to be included in the cookbook. Many of their fundraising events supported children’s programs, especially at Camp Centerland. The Kitchen Cupboard Committee, which was part of the JCC Women’s Association, sold baked goods and held a cooking contest at the annual Country Fair. The Country Fair was the largest fundraiser run by the JCC Women’s Association.
